On the 9th October 2006, Shoemat, formally the Materials division of British United Shoe Machinery Ltd was acquired by T.R.Lawman Ltd. A spokesperson for TRL said "the acquisition of the Shoemat business will enable us to continue to grow our Components and Materials business within our core Footwear operations.

A key part of the Shoemat range is the Insole Materials product line spearheaded by Bontex, the world leading cellulose insole material. Following a recent reorganisation within Bontex and the closure of its plant in Belgium in 2004, Bontex have announced that Shoemat has been appointed its European Liaison Office and Distribution Centre based within the UK.
